Getting your files ready for print

For Fine Art Giclée and Large Format projects, we recommend simply using standard image file formats such as Tiff, PSD, JPG, etc. For more complex printing projects containing many elements, such as fonts and linked graphics, we recommend Press Ready PDF files (see below). For best results we recommend your image resolution be in the neighborhood of 300 dpi/ppi and not below 180 dpi/ppi.

What is Adobe PDF?

So how do I make a PDF?
Export To PDF
Many programs allow you to simply "Export To PDF". Especially Adobe products such as InDesign and Illustrator. Just make sure the export settings are set up to create a "Press Quality" PDF. Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions regarding this process.

What is a "Press Quality" or "Hi Res Press Ready" PDF?
A Press Ready PDF is simply a PDF document that has been created using settings optimized for commercial printing purposes. This is usually obtained by selecting the Press Quality option in your software's Export to PDF menu. Below are a few screen shots that show a typical Press Quality PDF Export menu.
